On May 15, litigation & enforcement partner Brian Blais will speak at Practicing Law Institute’s Basics of Accounting for Lawyers 2024. Brian, who served for over a decade as an Assistant United States Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York, will present “Anatomy of the Balance Sheet.” The session will address key elements of a company’s balance sheet, including assets, liabilities and shareholder’s equity, as well as balance sheet ratios and metrics.” The session runs 10:30am – 12:00pm.
A leading white collar attorney, Brian served as Co-Chief of the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s General Crimes Unit, supervising over 500 investigations and 40 jury trials conducted by the more than 60 Assistant U.S. Attorneys he supervised. The cases involved corporate criminal liability, money laundering, cybercrime, wire fraud, mail fraud, tax fraud, access device fraud, and a multitude of other criminal offenses.
