On June 6, María González Calvet, co-chair of the firm's award-winning global anti-corruption and international risk practice and Latin America practice, will moderate a panel at LL & GIR Live: Anti-corruption and Investigations Mexico. During the panel titled, “Current tides of regional enforcement and related political drivers,” Maria will lead a discussion about the future of enforcement in Latin America and the potential impacts of U.S. developments including the Foreign Extortion Prevention Act’s enactment and new requirements for reporting beneficial ownership. Panelists will also examine the region’s tense macroeconomic environment, socio-political uncertainly, and prospects for regional integration and legal changes.
With a practice that spans two decades, including serving as a U.S. federal prosecutor and in-house executive counsel of a Fortune 500 company, María is recognized for her broad experience in multijurisdictional investigative and compliance matters. She has conducted internal and government investigations in more than 40 countries and has represented clients in every significant business sector.
