Tax partner David Saltzman will participate in an Oct. 6 panel discussion on tax issues in international shipping, trade, and logistics at the International Bar Association’s annual conference. Other panelists include Mette Mellemgaard Jakobsen, head of tax for Maersk S/A, and tax professionals from leading firms in the PRC, Brazil, Denmark, and Ireland.
David and other panelists will discuss challenges faced by shipping companies and freight forwarders, particularly in relation to cross-border intragroup transactions of international freight services. Speakers will discuss the qualification of global affiliates as agent or principal for tax purposes in each jurisdiction, intragroup payments and source taxation, and potential limitations under tax treaties.
The conference is taking place from Oct. 4 to Oct. 9 at the Bella Center in Copenhagen, Denmark.
