On June 10, Ropes & Gray government enforcement partner Laura Hoey (Chicago) discussed, as part of the Practising Law Institute Internal Investigations conference in Chicago, the process and key considerations in conducting an internal investigation. Laura was on a panel that focused on the early stages of the investigation, with particular emphasis on maintaining privilege while gathering and preserving documents, conducting employee interviews, and working with other counsel and third parties.
In connection with this conference, Laura co-authored an article entitled, “Three’s Company or Three’s a Crowd? Working with Third Parties during an Internal Investigation” which presents both legal and practical considerations for working with third parties while protecting privilege during an internal investigation. The article is available at this link; these materials originally appeared in the PLI course handbook Internal Investigations 2014 (#51275)
