A cross-practice team of Ropes & Gray lawyers recently helped an innovative, Cambridge-based venture capital fund – Xfund II LLC – successfully complete its first fund-raising campaign, which closed on Dec. 4 with $100 million in capital commitments.
Xfund began as a partnership between existing venture capital firms working together with the intention of connecting highly educated, entrepreneurial talent in university towns with the business expertise of longstanding VC professionals.
The Ropes & Gray team included private investment funds partner Peter Laybourn and associate John GangQiao, tax associates Adam Greenwood and Alyssa Kollmeyer, and investment management counsel Michael Jurasic. Also assisting on the matter were IP transactions partner Ed Black and private investment funds partner Jason E. Brown.
