International law firm Ropes & Gray LLP today announced that respected labor & employment attorney Jenny Cooper has joined Ropes & Gray as counsel in the firm’s labor & employment practice. Additionally, Ropes & Gray welcomes senior associate Stephanie Bruce to the firm’s labor & employment team. Both Ms. Cooper and Ms. Bruce will be resident in Boston.
Ranked as a leading lawyer for labor & employment by Chambers USA, Ms. Cooper joins Ropes & Gray from Morgan Lewis, previously Bingham McCutchen, where she worked on complex employment litigation including wage and hour class actions, multi-plaintiff and class action discrimination matters, disparate impact discrimination litigation, whistleblower actions, and restrictive covenant lawsuits. She has advised clients on wage and hour compliance, workforce reductions, employee discipline and discharge, disability and leave issues, non-competes, employment agreements, and the employment law issues that arise in corporate transactions.
Ms. Cooper also has a niche practice conducting highly sensitive investigations for a wide variety of clients. For example, she investigated allegations of discrimination, harassment and retaliation by a chief human resources officer of a public agency; she investigated allegations of hazing at a municipal police training academy; and she investigated allegations of sexual harassment and assault at a large technology company.
Employers are facing more employment class actions, whistleblower cases, and restrictive covenant lawsuits, and over the course of her distinguished career, Jenny has developed an outstanding track record of successful representation of employers in complex employment litigation matters.
Ms. Cooper served as a judicial clerk for the Hon. James G. Carr of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. She received her J.D. from the University of Michigan, where she served as the executive editor of the Journal of Race and Law. Ms. Cooper received her B.A. in English from the University of Michigan.
“Ropes & Gray has long had a premiere labor and employment practice, setting itself apart in both the depth and breadth of capabilities that its attorneys bring to the table,” said Ms. Cooper. “I am excited to join the firm’s growing practice in complex employment litigation, especially because clients turn to Ropes & Gray to handle their most-challenging, sensitive, cutting edge, and high-stakes employment litigation matters, and that’s precisely the kind of work I love to do. With the robust platform that Ropes & Gray provides, I look forward to focusing my practice on helping clients get great results on the cases they worry about the most.”
Senior associate Stephanie Bruce joins Ropes & Gray from Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP, where she practiced for over a decade.
Ms. Bruce received her J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School, where she served as the articles editor for the Harvard Negotiation Law Review. She received her B.A. in psychology summa cum laude from Brandeis University.
