Life sciences partner Katherine Wang (Shanghai) and business & securities litigation partner Andrew Dale (Hong Kong) led a medical device roundtable with speakers from McKinsey & Company in Shanghai on April 17. The roundtable brought together senior in-house counsel and compliance officers from multinational medical device companies to discuss best compliance practices and the recent CFDA regulatory updates. After presenting lessons learned recent anti-corruption enforcement activity, the team led an interactive discussion on the anti-corruption compliance challenges facing companies doing business in China. Katherine Wang then presented on key regulatory initiatives affecting commercial operations of medical device companies in China. The group had a focused discussion on how to align the Chinese regulatory requirements with global product development. The event was very well received, with more than 15 participants from 13 medical device companies, including Medtronic, Stryker, Becton Dickinson, Boston Scientific, Cardinal Health, Baxter, Siemens, and St. Jude Medical.
