Ropes & Gray sponsored the Managing Intellectual Property Trade Secrets Forum on Sept. 27 in Palo Alto. The discussion focused on the potential effects of the recently passed Defend Trade Secrets Act. IP Litigation partner Jim Batchelder (Silicon Valley) moderated a discussion. The panel discussed an array of topics, including why trade secret litigation is on the rise, when and how ex-parte seizures would be implemented, and why trade secrets are being used as an alternative to patent protection. The other speakers on the panel were Mathew Ahn, senior corporate counsel at Oracle, and Julian Moore, legal counsel at Twitter.
