Ropes & Gray served as legal counsel to Kohlberg & Company, L.L.C. in the formation of Kohlberg Investors VIII, its eighth private equity fund. The fund announced its final close on Dec. 19, with $2.2 billion in total commitments. The fund was oversubscribed and closed at its “hard cap” due to strong support from existing limited partners, coupled with commitments from new leading institutional investors.
Formed in 1987, Kohlberg & Company is a private equity firm specializing in middle market investing. Over 70 investors participated as limited partners in Kohlberg Investors VIII, including a broad mix of public and corporate pension funds, endowments, insurance companies and family offices across the globe.
The Ropes & Gray team was led by private investment funds partner Marc Biamonte and private equity transactions partner Dan Evans, and included tax partner Jay Milkes and corporate associate Steve Zaorski.
