Ropes & Gray Attorneys Examine Whether to Certify with Anti-Bribery Standard ISO 37001

In an article published by The FCPA Report, Ropes & Gray attorneys examine whether to certify with anti-bribery standard ISO 37001. The standard seeks to incorporate global best practices for creating and maintaining an anti-bribery compliance program and provides an opportunity for businesses to certify compliance with the standard through an independent third-party auditor.

The authors note that while certification of compliance with ISO’s Anti-Bribery Standard is intended to promote robust anti-bribery practices, obtaining certification could paradoxically make businesses less likely to comply with anti-bribery principles or act less diligently in their attempts to prevent bribery.
