A cross-office Ropes & Gray team advised WayPoint Capital Partners, the direct investing affiliate of a single family office with several billion dollars in assets under management, in a $16 million Series B financing in Simple Contacts, a telemedicine platform designed to empower patients to renew their contact lens prescriptions from home. Additional funding in the Series B came from Goodwater Capital, Steven Cohen, executives from Flatiron Health and a number of the nation’s top ophthalmologists. The transaction brings Simple Contacts’ total funding to $26 million.
New York-based Simple Contacts, launched in 2016, has quickly grown into a trusted and convenient option for the 40 million Americans who wear contact lenses. The company works with leading ophthalmologists to maintain a safe, reliable and convenient way for people with healthy eyes to renew their lens prescriptions at a fraction of the cost of a traditional doctor’s visit.
The Ropes & Gray team representing WayPoint Capital Partners was led by mergers & acquisitions partner Jane Goldstein and life sciences associate Bradford Flint, and included IP transactions counsel Regina Sam Penti.
