Ropes & Gray represented private equity firm Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe (WCAS) in a definitive agreement, along with Walgreen Co., to make equity investments in Shields Health Solutions. The transaction was announced on July 31 and terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Shields is a leader in hospital-owned specialty pharmacy care. Shields currently partners with a network of more than 30 leading health systems in the U.S. to create on-site, health system-owned specialty pharmacy programs, providing integrated care management for more than 30 complex diseases including oncology, neurology, diabetes and rheumatology.
The Ropes & Gray team included tax partner Leo Arnaboldi (New York), health care partners Tim McCrystal and Adrianne Ortega (both of Boston), life sciences regulatory & compliance partner Greg Levine (Washington, D.C.), and litigation & enforcement partners Jane Willis (Boston).
