In a Sept. 16 piece published by The Anti-Corruption Report titled Herbalife Nutrition Sheds $123 Million to Resolve FCPA Problems in China, litigation & enforcement partner Geoffrey Atkins discusses Herbalife Nutrition Ltd.’s recent settlement over FCPA charges with the SEC and the DOJ. In the August settlement, the company agreed to pay more than $123 million in total to resolve problems at subsidiaries in China.
The settlement is “indicative of the government’s continuing focus on combatting bribery abroad and is only one of many recent noteworthy enforcement resolutions targeting the operations of multinationals in China,” said Geoff in the piece, adding that other multinationals doing business in China will take note.
