In an Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) Global Leaders profile article, IP transactions partner Ed Black (Boston) discusses topics including challenges facing clients in IP, technology, data and fintech.
Ed notes that his my most memorable matters in the past year have all been data transactions. With artificial intelligence permeating the world of business, data has shot up in value and is now a stand-alone asset class that can be bought, sold, licensed, collateralized for debt, or monetized in stand-alone data monetization business models. He has enjoyed being part of the transformation of the data asset class from a fringe to a core asset with a stand-alone piece of economic and business activity – that has demanded constant creativity as commercial practices have evolved.
