In a Westlaw Today article, attorneys analyzed the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s updated guidance for schools that assist student-athletes as they seek to score name, image and likeness (NIL) compensation deals.
The authors note that although the NCAA Division I Board of Directors updated guidance provides some additional information, there are still a number of questions about what schools can and cannot do in support of their student-athletes. The article summarizes the new guidance and provides recommendations for athletic departments and coaches going forward.
The article was authored by litigation & enforcement partner Chris Conniff, IP transactions partner Erica Han and private equity associate Tatum Wheeler.
