Details continue to unfold after the PGA TOUR, DP World Tour and the Public Investment Fund (PIF) announced a merger agreement on June 6. The initial pact included few binding clauses and did not assign value to assets. Mergers and acquisitions partner, Suni Sreepada discussed the deal with The New York Times saying the lack of definitive arrangements complicates the path to closing.
“This looks a little more like a settlement to me than an actual M&A deal [but] the fact that they were willing to publicly announce it does mean that the parties are pretty committed to doing something,” said Suni. “I guess that leaves us with a question of who holds the leverage at this point? And how does this end up getting fleshed out?”
