In an Associated Press newswire article, partner Michael Littenberg, head of the firm’s ESG, CSR and business and human rights practice, discussed how companies are preparing to comply with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's new rules requiring public companies to disclose some emissions and climate-related information. After the SEC adopted the rules, legal challenges were filed by numerous parties.
Michael explained that companies will prepare for compliance while the lawsuits move forward. He notes that whatever the outcome, many companies will have to comply with similar rules in California and the European Union, which recently moved ahead with requirements for companies to disclose their emissions and other climate-risk information.
