Many investors are eyeing fiber and broadband assets and Ropes & Gray private equity partners expect digital infrastructure M&A activity to pick up in the next year. In a recent Fierce Telecom article, infrastructure partners Taylor Hart and Brandon Howald shared their outlook.
“To some extent, the deal environment in this space has been much better than the broader M&A market in the last couple of years and probably will continue to be so,” said Hart.
Ropes & Gray advised GI Partners in its recent strategic investment in Blue Stream Fiber and Berkshire Partners in its investment in Point Broadband. The firm also represented Frontier Communications on a $2.1 billion fiber securitization financing.
“ABS continues to be a growing area of focus for both data center operators and fiber network providers,” said Howald. “Just the ability to obtain what’s typically lower-cost financing for these businesses is really desirable.”
