Senator Bob Menendez is currently on trial in New York, charged with 16 criminal counts, including bribery, fraud and illegal foreign-agent offenses.
Litigation & enforcement partner Brian Blais commented on the trial in The Wall Street Journal, noting that the government’s biggest challenge in the trial has been showing that Menendez knew his wife was getting money and gifts from businessmen that were conditioned on his taking actions as a senator. “What I think you haven’t heard is the linkage between Menendez’s actions and the purported payments,” Brian said.
