The 2024 Paris Olympics mark a big opportunity for U.S. college athletes to take deals on their name, image and likeness (NIL), IP transactions partner Erica Han told the New York Times’ July 27 DealBook newsletter.
Although the N.C.A.A. changed its rules on NIL shortly before the 2021 Tokyo Games, the change "was so confusing and so quick that there really wasn’t time for sponsors to capitalize on that," Erica said. Now there’s more clarity around the rules, she added.
Gymnast Suni Lee and swimmer Gretchen Walsh are among the U.S. college athletes competing in Paris.
