Continuing a longstanding tradition that showcases Ropes & Gray’s United in the Fight Against Cancer commitment, a team of firm attorneys and support team members participated in the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) on Aug. 3 and 4, raising money for cancer research and treatment. Cycling up to 186 miles across Massachusetts, the 29-person, cross-office team raised more than $200,000 to support the world-renowned Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, making the Ropes & Gray team one of this year’s leading fundraisers.
Over more than 20 years, Ropes & Gray has raised more than $3 million to support Dana-Farber through the PMC, which has now raised more than $1 billion for Dana-Farber over the PMC’s 45-year history. This year, the firm team started a new tradition, carrying a Ropes & Gray banner on which colleagues had been invited to write the names of those in whose memory they would like the team to ride.
This year’s firm team included: Abigail Alfaro, Michael Allen, John Ames, Paul Armstrong, Leo Arnaboldi, Jeffrey Bashara, Gregory Bauer, Stefanie Birkmann, Edward Black, Michael Boussy, Douglas Brayley, John Bueker, Jayne Costello (Team Coordinator), Josh DeMelo, Graham Foster, Donna Frankel, Richard Gauthier, Taylor Hart, Keith Higgins, Ryan McCaffrey (Team Vice Captain), Mark Morrison, Dan O'Connor, Matthew Richards, Al Rose, William Shefelman, Glenda Watson (Volunteer Captain), Patrick Welsh, Christian Westra (Team Captain) and Marko Zatylny.
The PMC is the largest athletic fundraiser in the United States, and 100 percent of every dollar raised goes directly to Dana-Farber.
