Ropes & Gray has reached a critical milestone in its green energy goals by powering its global 14-office real estate portfolio with 100% renewable electricity through the purchase of environmental attribute certificates (EACs) and other renewable energy contracts.
In accomplishing this feat, Ropes & Gray can claim 100% renewable electricity use for its office space in 2024. This initiative dovetails with Ropes & Gray’s efforts to reduce emissions through operational choices such as lighting controls, use of LED lighting fixtures and energy efficient equipment, recycling, composting, and efforts to reduce paper usage and single-use consumables.
Ropes & Gray purchases the EACs to cover energy consumed that is not already from a renewable source. The EACs support the development of wind, solar, geothermal and other renewable energy sources.
The accomplishment comes as Ropes & Gray’s clients build on their own environmental, social and governance (ESG) metrics and seek to do business with law firms with high sustainability standards.
