Robert Silvers, co-chair of the national security practice and partner in the data, privacy & cybersecurity practice, has joined the board of directors of the Artificial Intelligence Ethics Council (AIEC).
The council is co-chaired by OpenAI CEO and co-founder Sam Altman, and entrepreneur John Hope Bryant, who is also the founder, chair, and CEO of the non-profit organization Operation HOPE. Altman and Bryant founded AIEC in 2023 to advance their vision of safe, secure, and ethical development and deployment of AI technology.
AIEC’s goal is to identify and address ethical issues related to AI and ensure its benefits can be enjoyed by as many as possible while mitigating risks and challenges. The organization notes that appointing Rob, who previously served as Under Secretary for Policy at the Department of Homeland Security and Chair of the U.S. Cyber Safety Review Board, will help forward AIEC’s mission to realize an ethical AI future.
