Ropes & Gray today announced that it has expanded its partnership with Hebbia, a leading provider of artificial intelligence solutions for the legal industry, to enhance the firm’s transactional capabilities.
Through this expanded partnership, Ropes & Gray will continue leveraging Hebbia’s AI-powered “Matrix” platform to streamline the complex document review and data analysis processes inherent in high-stakes transactions. The platform enables fund formation and deal teams to identify key provisions, analyze precedent, and uncover critical insights from vast amounts of information with speed, and a higher precision than provided by traditional RAG-based LLM platforms.
“Transactions move quickly, and our clients expect us to deliver sharp, actionable insights on tight timelines,” said Melissa Bender, asset management partner and co-lead of the private funds group. “By integrating Hebbia into our fund workflows, we can elevate the way we handle document review, transaction points and precedent analysis – ensuring our clients receive best-in-class service in every matter.”
Among various use cases for the private funds group, Melissa has found Hebbia to be a particularly effective solution for extracting key terms, speeding up comparisons of partnership agreements and other key documents and similar benchmarking exercises. In addition to identifying the significant time savings for everyday work, she notes that these tools permit analysis of market terms with a level of granularity that was historically so labor intensive as to be cost-prohibitive.
Hebbia’s platform surfaces relevant information from both internal and external data sources. Ropes & Gray’s deal teams will use the tool to accelerate data extraction, assess market trends, and support negotiation strategies, enabling the firm to deliver an even higher level of responsiveness and strategic counsel.
To accelerate adoption and deliver measurable value, the practice technology team at Ropes & Gray – led by Winston Burt and Theresa Spartichino - has partnered with Hebbia’s team of legal experts to design and implement custom workflows tailored to the unique needs of specific practices, teams, and clients.
“Ropes & Gray is redefining how leading law firms apply AI in transactional work,” said George Sivulka, CEO and Founder of Hebbia. “By incorporating deeper and more accurate research into their workflows at scale, they are setting a new benchmark for speed, accuracy, and client service in deal execution.”
The partnership builds on Ropes & Gray’s broader commitment to innovation and investment in technologies that enhance the delivery of legal services.
