A recent Law360 Real Estate Authority article spotlights the growing trend of institutional investors negotiating for greater control and customized arrangements in real estate funds, as market uncertainties persist in 2025.
Eric Requenez and Jason Kolman, both partners in Ropes & Gray’s asset management group, were quoted on how investors are driving more personalized requests and fund managers are responding with creative solutions. Requenez noted, “Investors are negotiating a little harder and making more personalized requests that managers are seeking ways to accommodate.” Kolman added that some investors, facing uncertainty, are reluctant to lock into long-term products, prompting managers to offer more flexible structures.
