Ropes & Gray LLP is excited to announce that Amanda Morrison, General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer of Advent International, will rejoin the firm as partner and co-leader of its global Private Capital Transactions (PCT) practice, effective December 1.

Amanda returns following three years at Advent, a leading global private equity investor and a key Ropes & Gray client. Advent oversees more than $100 billion in assets under management* and has made 435 investments across 44 countries. As a Boston-based Managing Director and member of Advent’s Business Operations Leadership Team, Amanda led the global legal team through a period of rapid growth at the firm. Amanda will continue to serve as an interim external General Counsel to Advent for a period of time to ensure a seamless transition.

Before Advent, Amanda spent 14 years as a Ropes & Gray partner, where she held several leadership roles including head of the firm’s private equity transactions practice.

“Amanda is a powerhouse in private capital—she’s guided top asset managers through the industry’s most complex deals and knows our clients, our business, and our culture inside and out,” said Julie Jones, Chair. “She’s returning to Ropes at a pivotal moment in the industry, bringing unmatched experience, commercial instincts, and a competitive edge for our clients and our team.”

“I am deeply thankful for three transformative years of leading and learning from the team of highly accomplished professionals at Advent,” said Amanda Morrison. “With the benefit of that experience, I’m excited to return to Ropes and help our clients seize the significant opportunities in private capital.”

“We are enormously grateful to Amanda for her contributions to the firm over the past three years, and we look forward to continuing to work together,” said John Maldonado, Advent Managing Partner.

Amanda will be based in Ropes & Gray’s Boston office.
