In a Pensions & Investments article, Ropes & Gray asset management partner Alyssa Horton and litigation & enforcement partner Amy Jane Longo share perspectives on 2026 regulatory priorities affecting DC plans and digital assets.
Alyssa observes that Commissioner Caroline Crenshaw’s departure is unlikely to significantly impact the SEC’s rulemaking direction. She points out that while having a range of viewpoints can be valuable, the practical effect of a unanimous or near-unanimous vote is minimal when it comes to the rulemaking process.
Amy indicates she will be monitoring whether the SEC introduces a 2026 proposal to exempt certain crypto tokens from strict securities regulations. She notes that many in the industry are optimistic that there could be progress on this front early next year.
