Ropes & Gray has advised Basecamp Research, a frontier AI lab harnessing evolution to design new medicines, on its investment from NVentures (NVIDIA's venture capital arm) in its pre-Series C round. This investment follows years of close technical collaboration and will help the company to accelerate its research and development efforts.
Basecamp announced the investment alongside the launch of its first AI models capable of programmable gene insertion, offering a new way to replace faulty genes and reprogram cells for therapeutic use. Trained in collaboration with NVIDIA, these models are driving the development of a new generation of treatments for cancer and inherited diseases.
The Ropes & Gray team was led by venture capital and emerging companies counsel David Dowling and partner Raj Banerjee, and life sciences licensing partner Hannah England, with support from associates Velyana Borisova and Iain Fox.
