In a new article in InformationWeek, Rohan Massey, partner in the data, privacy, and cybersecurity practice, examines how AI is transforming the cybersecurity threat landscape and what security leaders must do to respond.
Rohan explains that AI is democratizing cyberattacks by automating tasks that previously required specialized expertise, putting advanced capabilities in the hands of lower-skill attackers. He notes that AI risk extends beyond external threats—an organization's own adoption of AI can create new internal attack surfaces if not properly governed.
Looking ahead, Rohan expects an increase in AI-powered attacks, including faster phishing campaigns, more sophisticated deepfake frauds, and wider automated exploitation. He emphasizes that no security team can match attackers' AI speed through manual processes alone and urges CIOs to deploy AI defensively, pointing to behavior-based detection tools that establish baselines for user activity to identify anomalies.
