Ropes & Gray celebrated the extraordinary pro bono contributions of attorneys and support team members at our annual pro bono event this June. The ceremony honored several individuals and teams, capping off a year in which the firm dedicated more than 130,000 hours to pro bono service.
Honorees included:
- An Asia-led team for its work with The Remedy Project, a social enterprise focused on improving outcomes for workers in global supply chains.
- Senior attorney Sarah Lambert-Porter for her work on behalf of an Afghan woman and her infant child seeking asylum in the UK.
- Partners Alex Simkin and Gregg Weiner for their leadership in the landmark Dorce v. City of New York class action litigation which challenges a NYC program allowing the city to seize and transfer properties (mostly of minority residents) without compensating the original owners for their lost home equity.
- Associate Gideon Palte for leading a team to revamp collaborative funding agreements for Holocaust survivor programs with the Jewish Federation of North America.
- Partner Howard Glazer for his exceptional leadership and efforts to grow the firm’s pro bono participation, especially among transactional lawyers.
- A U.S.-based team focused on supporting immigrants facing wrongful detention.
- Counsel Jessica Dormitzer for her work on a precedent-setting post-conviction DNA testing case.
- Of counsel John Montgomery for the remarkable pro bono contributions he has made in retirement, including groundbreaking work on behalf of child sex trafficking survivors.
