In an article in The Wall Street Journal, Ama Adams, co-chair of the national security practice, discussed the Treasury Department's new actions under Operation Economic Outcast, which target the United Arab Emirates-based arm of Egypt's Banque Misr by proposing to revoke its correspondent banking access to U.S. financial institutions.

Ama noted that the public comment period on FinCEN's proposed rule could yield important industry feedback about potential cascading effects, which may shape the administration's future enforcement approach. "That perhaps gives FinCEN a road map or a framework if they chose to go after broader banking institutional relationships or an even bigger bank," said Ama.
