Ropes & Gray advised Teva Pharmaceutical Industries in a licensing and commercialization agreement with Samsung Bioepis that would give Teva U.S. rights to two FDA-approved immunology biosimilars, infliximab-abda and etanercept-ykro, in a deal announced on November 3. Both biosimilars are inhibitors of tumor necrosis factor indicated for chronic inflammatory and autoimmune conditions.
Under the agreement Samsung Bioepis would remain responsible for manufacturing and regulatory oversight and Teva would be responsible for sales. Teva would obtain U.S. commercialization rights to etanercept-ykro at closing, while rights to infliximab-abda would transfer in the third quarter of 2027. Teva will pay Samsung Bioepis an upfront amount over three years and Samsung may receive additional launch and sales milestone payments.
The Ropes & Gray team was led by life sciences licensing partner Abby Gregor and associate Zach Kramer.
