As co-head of Ropes & Gray’s privacy & cybersecurity practice, Mr. Meal has become a nationally recognized leading privacy litigator thanks to over a decade of experience handling the most high-profile data breach disputes – and successfully representing companies involved in highly publicized data security breaches, including Target, Home Depot, Sony, Wyndham, TJX Companies, and many others. Currently, Mr. Meal represents LabMD in LabMD v. FTC, which came before the Eleventh Circuit for oral arguments in June. The case, which is widely viewed as an important test of the FTC’s authority on data security issues, has been acknowledged by Law360 as the most-watched privacy case of the year.
Private equity transactions partner Taylor Hart was recognized as a “Technology MVP” for his key role in Ropes & Gray’s representation of China Oceanwide in its acquisition of International Data Group and for Berkshire Partners in its acquisitions of Masergy Communications, Curriculum Associates and Accela and the sale of a portion of Access Information Management to GI Partners. This is the latest accolade Mr. Hart has received for capably handing major cross-border technology transactions, and Chambers USA recently noted that Mr. Hart has won client praise for his “levelheaded and detail-oriented” approach to M&A work, leveraged buyouts and other investments.
