Health care partner Torrey McClary was named to the Daily Journal’s 2024 “Top 100 Lawyers,” a prestigious list that honors and recognizes the best lawyers in California based on their legal accomplishments, professional reputation, and contributions to the legal community.
Torrey has structured and negotiated some of the most prominent and complex health system deals in the U.S. She served as lead counsel for Atrium Health in one of the most significant completed health care transactions of the past decade, resulting in Atrium Health’s strategic combination with Advocate Aurora Health to form Advocate Health.
The Advocate Health transaction created one of the nation’s largest nonprofit health systems, with over $30 billion in combined revenues and 67 hospitals across 6 states, with more than 1,000 sites of care to serve 5 million patients, including 150,000 doctors, nurses, researchers, faculty and staff.
“I like the constructive aspect of doing deals where you feel like at the end of a transaction, generally everybody feels good about the result and what you were able to accomplish. When we close a deal, it's always a celebration. The ultimate goal with health care, and especially non-profit health care where my practice is focused, is that we put together deals that improve quality and access to care, control cost, and ultimately result in better care to patients and the communities our clients serve,” said Torrey.
