Bloomberg Law has recognized asset management partner Rachel O’Brien in the 2025 edition of its “They’ve Got Next: the 40 Under 40” special report, which honors exceptional young lawyers who represent “the next generation of legal leaders,” according to the publication.

The prestigious list, selected annually by Bloomberg Law’s editorial team from a nationwide pool of applicants spanning the full legal industry, recognizes young attorneys who “excel at client work at their law firms and companies, take on weighty leadership roles, and still make time for mentorship and pro bono work.”

Rachel, who advises private fund sponsors on the formation, marketing and management of private equity and other private investment vehicles, noted in her published profile that she has been “very privileged to partner with a number of industry-leading private fund sponsors on some of their most important fund formation and fundraising matters over the last several years”, including Hamilton Lane’s Secondary Fund VI, which at $5.6 billion of commitments marked the largest fund in that firm’s history, and one of the largest standalone secondaries fundraises in the industry in 2024, among others.

Asked about important lessons she’s learned, and her own definition of success in the legal profession, Rachel told the publication that “[s]trong relationships are at the heart of great legal work,” and that her own metric for success “is the strength of the relationships I build and the value I bring to clients, colleagues, and the broader private funds ecosystem.”
