Ropes & Gray Ranked No. 2 on the A-List

For the ninth consecutive year, Ropes & Gray ranked in the top three on The American Lawyer’s A-List, earning a No. 2 ranking in the 2025 report.

The A-List is The American Lawyer’s premier ranking, highlighting the top 20 law firms that truly stand out in the legal industry. This elite recognition honors firms that are “operating on all cylinders,” evaluating performance across a range of key metrics including financial strength, associate satisfaction, and pro bono commitment. Ropes & Gray’s consistent presence atop the A-List leaderboard – unique among our peers – reflects a commitment to providing exceptional legal counsel, outstanding client service, and fostering a supportive and collaborative firm culture.

In the report, Julie Jones discussed the firm’s consistent presence among the A-List’s top three firms, saying “Being the best is being the best place to work with the biggest client impact and making the biggest impact in the societies you’re responsible for. To be at the top of this leaderboard, and to stay there, we always need to be focused on where are the changes you are making in order to stay there, and AI is the most powerful example of that. [It] is going to change the nature of everything we do. So our strategy has been: get there first.”
