Ropes & Gray was honored for its pro bono work in partnership with the City Bar Justice Center at the center’s annual gala on April 15.
Ropes & Gray was recognized alongside Goldman Sachs for supporting the center’s aim to provide pro bono legal services benefiting over 27,000 New Yorkers each year.
Partners Douglas Hallward-Driemeier and Steven Zaorski appeared in a video highlighting Ropes & Gray’s work with the center’s Veterans Assistance Project and with God’s Love We Deliver, an organization serving meals to people with life-altering illnesses. Partner David Hennes accepted the award, noting that in 2025 alone, the Ropes & Gray community dedicated 133,000 pro bono hours, with 38,000 of those hours in the New York community. As part of the celebration, Ropes & Gray and Goldman Sachs will team up to assist low-income elders at a clinic in May.
The City Bar Justice Center is the civil legal aid affiliate of the New York City Bar Association and has been a trusted pro bono partner of the firm’s for over a decade.
