Law360 named partner Ray Grant as a “Rising Star” in the 2026 Life Sciences category. The recognition honors attorneys under age 40 whose legal accomplishments distinguish them among their peers.

Law360 highlighted Ray’s representation of Bain Capital portfolio company Tanabe Pharma on the $2.5 billion sale of global rights to Radicava, a therapy for the fatal neurodegenerative disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, to the Japanese pharmaceutical company Shionogi Inc., in a complex cross-border deal.

"For a deal like that, you don't have a single precedent or playbook to go off. We had to work hand in hand with the client to help develop the right structure for the transaction," said Ray.

When asked about his motivation to work in the life sciences industry, Ray noted that pharmaceutical deals can have a major impact on people’s lives. “We're doing transactions [and] capital raising that are going to fund the next breakthrough drug, hopefully,” said Ray.

The honorees were selected by Law360 from a competitive group of more than 1,100 submissions.
