Ropes & Gray Names Daniel Anderson a Partner in Hong Kong, Focusing on Special Situations

The global law firm Ropes & Gray announced that Daniel Anderson has been named a partner in the Hong Kong office, focusing on the firm’s growing special situations practice. Mr. Anderson, who previously held the position of counsel at the firm, works closely with attorneys across several practices, including finance, private equity, hedge funds, bankruptcy & business restructuring, tax and litigation. Before joining Ropes & Gray, he was a director in Citadel Investment Group’s special situations group in Hong Kong, where he was involved in making, restructuring and exiting investments in various countries in Asia.

“Daniel Anderson’s special situations experience and strong work with clients across many of our practice groups will be a great asset to clients with business interests in Asia,” said Brad Malt, chairman of Ropes & Gray.

At Ropes & Gray, Mr. Anderson represents funds and other investors in special situations transactions in Asia, including acquisitions of distressed securities and loans, “loan-to-own” strategies, private financings, in-court and out-of-court restructurings, and real estate. Mr. Anderson also previously worked with the mergers & acquisitions group at Simpson Thacher in Hong Kong. He graduated from Georgetown University Law Center and is proficient in Mandarin.
