In Slate Interview, Ropes & Gray Partner Discusses His Arguments in the Pivotal Marriage Equality Case before the U.S. Supreme Court

In a May 2 audio interview with Slate, appellate & Supreme Court partner Douglas Hallward-Driemeier discusses oral arguments before the U.S. Supreme Court in the pivotal marriage equality case Obergefell v. Hodges. On April 28, Mr. Hallward-Driemeier argued the second question before the court, which asked “Does the Fourteenth Amendment require a state to recognize a marriage between two people of the same sex when their marriage was lawfully licensed and performed out-of-state?.” Mary Bonauto, civil rights project director for Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) addressed question 1: “Does the Fourteenth Amendment require a State to license a marriage between two people of the same sex?.”
