Attorneys:

In its third annual Innovative Lawyers report released June 3, the Financial Times again ranked Ropes & Gray among the top firms in the Asia-Pacific region for tackling client problems with creative solutions. Ropes & Gray tied for twelfth among internationally headquartered firms on the “FT 25.” The firm was cited for its corporate and finance deal work, as well as for the flexibility of our integrated special situations practice.

Among the transactions and practices highlighted by the Financial Times were:

  • Acting for Innovent Biologics, a Chinese biopharmaceutical company, in its strategic partnership with Eli Lilly in which each licensed the other rights to groundbreaking cancer treatments. (Highly commended; intellectual property transactions partner Geoffrey Lin commended)
  • Representing Bellsystem24 Holdings and Bain Capital in Bellsystem24’s IPO on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, and its pre-IPO restructuring and financing. (Commended)
  • Offering a new pan-Asian special situations practice that combines experts from relevant practice areas for a holistic bankruptcy and insolvency service for clients. (Commended)

The Financial Times report is the second prestigious publication to cite the novel strategies used by Ropes & Gray in Asia this year. In late March, Asian Legal Business included Ropes & Gray on its inaugural Innovation List—a selection of 10 firms in Asia using innovation to work more efficiently, provide better client service and remain ahead of competitors.
