Weekly highlights of what’s happening at Ropes & Gray:

  • Sophisticated enterprises encounter an ever-increasing and constantly changing spectrum of risks as they expand their lines of business, enter new geographic markets and grow by acquisitions. To help organizations to identify, monitor, and mitigate or eliminate risks at all levels, we have launched the Ropes Risk Mitigation & Management model, a comprehensive suite of risk assessment and advisory services. Learn more about this new service. The business imperative for assessing risk is made clear in “Risky Business: Mitigating Exposure through Comprehensive Risk Management,” an upcoming report commissioned by Ropes & Gray and produced by Financial Times Remark. Sign up to receive a copy of the report when it’s published on September 18.
  • Payors, who are driving the economics of health insurance, are critically important to the evolution of value-based health care. A new video with Bill Knowlton, a health care partner, provides considerations for payors participating in value-based health care programs, including key regulatory issues and tactics for navigating challenges in connection to value-based care.
  • In other health care news, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) clarified the scope of the Anti-Kickback Statute warranty safe harbor. This new alert examines how the OIG’s expanded interpretation facilitates many of the outcomes-based risk-sharing arrangements that drug and device sellers have been contemplating (and pursuing) as part of the movement towards value-based health care.
  • The European Union published the final text of its recently adopted conflict minerals regulation, which was more than seven years in the making. Read our alert – written in an easy-to-follow Q&A format – for a deep dive on the regulation and take-aways for downstream companies. For EU source documents relating to the regulation, please also visit the Ropes & Gray Supply Chain Compliance and Corporate Social Responsibility Resource Center.
