Ropes & Gray Names Alexandre Rene as Head of its Washington, D.C. Office

Global law firm Ropes & Gray has appointed Alexandre Rene as managing partner of its Washington, D.C. office. He succeeds Douglas Hallward-Driemeier in the role, as Mr. Hallward-Driemeier has been appointed to the firm’s governing policy committee. Mr. Hallward-Driemeier will continue as head of the firm’s highly acclaimed appellate & Supreme Court practice from our Washington, D.C. office.

Mr. Rene will lead the firm’s Washington-based office, which includes many attorneys who come from the government and regulatory agencies that are crucial to the firm’s clients. Practices of particular importance in our Washington, D.C. office include administrative litigation, appellate & Supreme Court, antitrust, FDA regulatory, healthcare, IP litigation including PTAB proceedings, ITC proceedings, government enforcement and investment management.

Mr. Rene, who also serves as the global co-head of the firm’s award-winning global anti-corruption and international risk practice, is recognized as one of the leading government enforcement attorneys handling international investigations. He has extensive experience representing corporate entities and their executives in connection with litigation and investigations arising out of white collar criminal prosecutions, grand jury investigations, criminal antitrust investigations, and corporate compliance matters.
