Ropes & Gray Advises Express Oil Change & Tire Engineers in its Merger with Mavis Discount Tire

Express Oil Change & Tire Engineers, a Golden Gate Capital portfolio company, has entered into an agreement to merge with Mavis Discount Tire, creating one of the largest independent automotive service platforms in the U.S. The transaction was announced on February 23. It is expected to close in the first half of 2018, subject to customary closing conditions.

The merger of Mavis and Express Oil unites two leading operators in the automotive service sector. Each has a history of strong organic sales and service center growth. The combined company will operate more than 830 locations in 24 states across the East Coast, South and Midwest.

The Ropes & Gray team is being led by private equity partner Eric Issadore, private equity associate Elizabeth Gallucci, finance partner Michael Lee and private equity partner William Shields.
