A June 20 article in Hedge Fund Alert titled “Law Firms Embrace Crypto Funds” reports on the number of law firms serving hedge funds that have started cryptocurrency funds practices. The piece highlights that Ropes & Gray has an “active crypto-fund practice” and having counseled client on this as early as 2014, among the first in this space. “I think one of the biggest changes is that strategies are evolving,” said hedge funds partner Sarah Davidoff in the article. “Instead of just buying bitcoin, hedge funds are buying many types of coins in their funds. Because of that, we have to really consider what liquidity terms funds can offer investors and whether we need longer lockups.”
