Ropes & Gray’s Capital Markets Practice Grows Again with Addition of Christopher Capuzzi

September 4, 2018

Global law firm Ropes & Gray today announced the addition of capital markets counsel Christopher Capuzzi to the firm’s 350-lawyer New York office, continuing the expansion of the firm’s global capital markets practice.

Mr. Capuzzi’s practice concentrates on corporate finance matters, including the representation of issuers, underwriters, and selling stockholders in a broad range of domestic and international offerings. His experience encompasses public and private debt, equity, convertible and preferred securities offerings and leveraged financings, in addition to specialty finance capital markets transactions. Mr. Capuzzi also represents private equity sponsors in connection with acquisition financing and ongoing portfolio company financing.

The addition of Mr. Capuzzi follows the recent arrival of Ropes & Gray capital markets partner Paul Tropp, both formerly of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP.

“Christopher’s capital markets experience will integrate seamlessly into our existing corporate practice in New York,” said Patrick O’Brien, co-head of the firm’s securities & public companies practice. “In addition to supporting our current capital markets activity, he will be an asset to practices across the firm.”

Mr. Capuzzi has broad experience representing clients in the United States, Europe, and Latin America. Additionally, Mr. Capuzzi is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York and, prior to his career in law, was an auditor at KPMG.

“The experience Christopher brings to the firm, which spans securities offerings, leveraged financings, and private equity acquisitions, will prove immediately beneficial to the clients we serve,” said Eva Carman, managing partner of the New York office. “His business experience, his in-depth financial training, and his background in cross-border offerings will be of great value to the firm’s clients.”

Mr. Capuzzi holds a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law, MBA in Finance from Fordham University Gabelli School of Business, and B.S. in Public Accounting from Fordham University.

Recently Ropes & Gray has added partners and other lawyers in New York to its private equity, private investment funds, finance, business restructuring, and hedge fund practices. In 2018, Ropes & Gray also added litigation & enforcement partner Lisa Bebchick and tax partner James R. Brown.
