In outlining his priorities for 2019, SEC Chairman Jay Clayton said he wants the agency to review the definition of accredited investor. As part of Hedge Fund Alert’s “Regulatory Roundup,” an article titled “Political Divide Portends Impasse on Rule-Making,” published on Jan. 30, included insights from asset management partner Joel Wattenbarger.

“I anticipate that we will see that concept release [on the definition of an accredited investor] sometime in 2019, but it doesn’t sound like it will constitute an actual proposed rule, which means that any actual rulemaking on the accredited-investor definition is probably some ways off in the future,” Mr. Wattenbarger outlined in the piece.
