In The Chicago Tribune, health care partner Deborah Gersh (Chicago) discussed how employers and public health officials can handle privacy when someone tests positive for the coronavirus. Deborah explains that doctors and other health providers with patients who test positive for COVID-19 cannot share identifying information publicly under federal HIPAA regulations, but they must alert public health officials.
