Ropes & Gray Honored with Two Awards for Work on Kaisa Restructuring Deal
Ropes & Gray was awarded two additional honors for its involvement in the restructuring of Kaisa Group, a Hong Kong-listed real estate company operating in China. The restructuring, completed on July 21, 2016, is believed to be the largest of its kind by a Chinese company.
At the International Financial Law Review (IFLR) Asia Awards on March 2 in Hong Kong, the Kaisa transaction was named “Restructuring Deal of the Year.” Asian-Mena Counsel also announced that it would be recognized as a 2016 “Deal of the Year” in the forthcoming April issue of the magazine.
Ropes & Gray’s work on the Kaisa deal was previously honored as “Deal of the Year” for 2016 by the China Business Law Journal. The deal was led by special situations partner Dan Anderson (Hong Kong).
