Ropes & Gray Attorneys Named California’s Top IP Lawyers

IP litigation partners Andrew Thomases and James Batchelder (both of Silicon Valley) were profiled on April 18 in The Daily Journal as California’s “Top Intellectual Property Lawyers 2018.” The Daily Journal annually recognizes IP lawyers in California whose achievements for clients have advanced technological innovation and transformed the law.

Mr. Thomases was recognized for getting a rare preliminary injunction in a patent infringement lawsuit representing Veeco Instruments, a large capital equipment manufacturer. Mr. Batchelder was honored for earning 10 wins for Emerson Electronics wireless networking patents at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, as well as a win for TiVo Corporation in which he enforced the company’s patent on pioneering program guide technology. Ms. Higgins was recognized for successfully representing Samsung Electronics in a six-year complex patent infringement battle with Affinity Labs related to streaming communication between devices.
